Abby Fitzgerald, DVM
Chief of Staff
Dr. Abby Fitzgerald grew up on a small farm in the beautiful state of Michigan. She obtained a Bachelors of Science in Ecology, Evolution and Organismal Biology from Michigan State University. During this time, she interned in the Animal Science Department aiding in research focused on improving the welfare of domesticated turkeys. Dr. Fitzgerald started her veterinary education at St. George’s University before concluding her clinical year at the University of Wisconsin Madison. While in school, Dr. Fitzgerald was very shocked to learn that some people don’t love cats.
Dr. Fitzgerald started her career in feline exclusive medicine in Baltimore prior to moving to Massachusetts. Due to her own cat having an extremely difficult time with veterinary visits, she holds a special interest in fear free handling and care for her patients. This includes her certification through the Feline Veterinary Medical Association for cat friendly handling. Other interests include feline internal medicine, cardiology and geriatric care. Dr. Fitzgerald is excited to see how newer research focused on feline genetics can help cat owners be proactive in their beloved felines care.
In her spare time, Dr. Fitzgerald enjoys catching up with her family and friends, hiking, kayaking, reading and exploring. As a transplant to New England, she has a goal of trying all the maple flavored treats she can find. Dr. Fitzgerald looks forward to many more years helping people who have been adopted by cats.
